The journal Archives [Arhivi], first published in 1978 by the Archival Association of Slovenia (AAS) and the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia, is the most important serial publication of archival science in Slovenia. It contains specialised articles and treatises in the field of archival science, science sources, and contributions on the structure and history of the sector by Slovene as well as international writers. Abstracts of treatises and articles in German, English, and Italian are also included; all articles have synopses in English.

Archives Journal was first published yearly from 1978 until 2000 as a double issue. After 2000 it has been published twice a year as a single issue. The journal is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and the Slovene Research Agency (ARRS). In 2006 the journal became a part of international ABC-CLIO social studies online database.

Contents

Archives publishes articles on the methods of archival work, the regulations on archives and archival material, the history of archives, as well as the conservation, restoration and reproduction of documents. The journal also monitors the development of archival science in the world and current issues on the protection and conservation of new formats of information on computer media. Writers from other fields of research are invited to contribute as well.

Selected articles (since 2003) are available for download at the Archival Association of Slovenia (AAS) website.
