In accordance with the legal order of the Republic of Slovenia, the Hungarian national community is organised within the Pomurje Hungarian Self-Governing National Community, with its seat in Lendava. This is the umbrella organisation of the Hungarian national community in the Republic of Slovenia, which is composed of 21 elected members from five municipalities of Pomurje where the Hungarians live: Lendava-Lendva has 11 elected members, Dobrovnik four members, Moravske Toplice three members, Hodoš two members, and Šalovci one member. The Hungarian National Self-Governing Community of Pomurje Region acts as a partner in deliberations with the government and other state bodies and co-ordinates the attitude of the Hungarian ethnic community towards all issues concerning its status on a regional and national level.
