The Grün-Filipič Award for high-quality dramaturgy work has been awarded on the occasion of the annual Week of Slovenian Drama at the Prešeren Theatre Kranj since 1979. It is awarded biannually to individual dramaturgs or dramaturgical departments whose work in the previous two years has proven significant for Slovene theatrical creativity.

The award is named after two great Slovene dramaturgs, essayists, theatre theoreticians, and founders of modern institutional dramaturgy in Slovenia, namely Herbert Grün (1925–1961) and Lojze Filipič (1921–1975). Until 2003, the award was delivered every third year, since then it is awarded every second year by the same jury of Slovene theatre practitioners and experts who awards the Grum Award for the best new Slovenian play.
