The [[Liber.ac, Academic Book Fair|Academic Book Fair Liber.ac]] was established on the initiative of the [[Faculty of Arts Bookshop]] in [[established::2010]] as a three-day event promoting the publications of Slovene university publishing houses, bookshops, and libraries. It is held in May in the Foerster garden, next to the [[Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana|Faculty of Arts]] in Ljubljana, and welcomes academics, experts, students, and anyone interested in the range and quality of academic and scientific work showcased there.

== Past editions ==
In 2010, when Ljubljana was the [[World Book Capital Ljubljana 2010|World Book Capital]], the fair was titled "Stars of East Asia on the Slovene Sky" and celebrated Japanese and Korean literature and the academic publications from the field of sinology and Japanology at the [[Department of Asian and African Studies, University of Ljubljana|Department of Asian Studies]] at the [[Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana|Faculty of Arts]]. 

The focus of the 2011 edition of the fair was Romance languages (Romanian, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, etc.). The [[Department of Romance Languages and Literature, University of Ljubljana|Department of Romance Languages and Literature]] was instrumental in organising the many accompanying events under the moniker "Romance Old New World".

"Magical Slavic Lands" was the title of the 2012 Liber.ac, which showcased the literary and cultural creativity of Slavic nations. It also presented two exhibitions: "Slavic Philologies through Time" and "Slovene Women in the Age of the Slovene Modern Movement". It was organised with the help of the [[Department of Slavistics, University of Ljubljana|Department of Slavistics]].

In 2013 the fair, titled "Germanic Babylon", brought together a range of Germanic countries, regions, languages, and literatures. The accompanying programme, conceived in cooperation with the [[Department of German, Dutch and Swedish, University of Ljubljana|Department of German, Dutch and Swedish]], comprised round table discussions, a student conference, concerts and performances, exhibitions, literary readings, and workshops for children.

Year 2019 is the 100th anniversary of the University of Ljubljana and the Faculty of Arts. To mark this occasion, there was, within the framework of the Academic Book Fair Liber.ac 2019, organized the conference on open science. "Open Science and University Press", draw attention to the variety and high quality of the Slovenian academy press with a highlight in presentation and promotion of the newest achievements in science and interdisciplinary directions in development in higher education.
