[[Radio Koper]] is the radio programme unit of the [[RTV Slovenia Regional Broadcasting Centre Koper-Capodistria]], which has around 120 employees. The centre broadcasts two programmes &ndash; one in Slovenian language and the other in Italian ([[Radio Capodistria]]) &ndash; and is received in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the Slovene Littoral, Istria, and coastal Slovenia.

The predecessor of Radio Koper was established in [[established::1949]] as Radio of the Yugoslav zone of Trieste. Originally it was broadcast in Slovenian, Croatian, and Italian languages. After 1954 it became a part of Radio Ljubljana (today's [[Radio Slovenia]]) and transmission was broadcast in Italian and Slovenian only. The Radio has studios in Koper and [[RTV Slovenia Regional Broadcasting Centre Koper-Capodistria, Nova Gorica Branch Office|Nova Gorica]], it also regularly collaborates with Slovene radio stations and stations from Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Croatia, and even Australia. Radio Koper-Capodistria is also transmitted via the station's website.


==Arts and culture programming==
Besides international news and news from Slovene political, economic, social, and cultural life, the station focuses on minority community events and news. It features a radio show ''The Cultural News'' [Iz kulturnega sveta] which focuses on the current cultural events, artists, and happenings from the Primorska and border region, including the news from cities participating in the European Capital of Culture programme. The show ''Musical Season Ticket'' [Glasbeni abonma] focuses on concert broadcasts, mainly focused on classical music and composers, artists and performers from the Primorska region, including the towns of Trieste, Gorizia, Udine.
