[[Carnica Institute for Culture and Tourism]], established in [[established::2010]], is based in the town of [[Municipality of Kranj | Kranj]], approximately 20 km northwest of Ljubljana. It is responsible for running and maintaining [[Layer House]], the town's (and indeed the region's) premier venue for urban culture, and acts as producer and co-producer of many of the events at the venue; these include exhibitions, concerts, workshops and educational events.

In addition to the cultural programme, the institute also operates three apartments within the venue. While primarily intended for Layer's various artist-in-residence programmes, the apartments are also available for short-term tourist lets. Through the institute, Layer House itself is also available to rent for weddings and other private functions.
