The ethnographic heritage in Slovenia ranges from the national Slovene Ethnographic Museum to numerous private collections. The local ethnography sites (homesteads, open-air museums, etc.) date back as far as the 17th century and represent authentic facets of peasant life. Contemporary museological approaches include urban ethnography exhibitions and projects. The rich museum collections are complemented by the growing national register of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Slovenia.
