The Department of Sociology Library was established in 1960, together with the Department of Sociology. Since then, the Library has collected more than 27,000 units of library material. The Department of Sociology Library holds several journals and other periodicals in the fields of Sociology, Sociology of Culture, Anthropology, and Gender Studies. The library has a modest reading room, computers that offer access to the COBISS catalogue and the use of other electronic sources.

The annual growth of items in the recent years reaches between 500 and 700 items. According to statistics, the number of users is growing and so is the number of borrowed material. Since 2002 the library's lending system is supported by a computer system. Its holdings are included in COBISS - Slovene Virtual Library catalogue and by index files.
