Archival article

Established in 1953 as a membership society, Prešernova družba Publishing bears the name of renowned Slovene poet France Prešeren and was first known for its annual collection of Prešeren’s poetry. Based in Ljubljana, its main activities include publishing, selling, and distributing books.

It publishes the annual Prešernov koledar series, which, in addition to a calendar, features short fiction, discussions, and practical advice. Of some interest is also a series of reference books that examine a wide array of subjects under the title of One Hundred Slovene ..., such as Sto slovenskih likovnikov ("One Hundred Slovene Visual Artists"). Fiction, poetry for both children and adults, picture books, encyclopaedias, and handbooks are all part of their publishing programme.

Prešernova družba online bookstore offers all the company's publications, accompanied with a short description. The site posts information on forthcoming publications, which are available for pre-order. Books published by Prešernova družba are also available in all major Slovene bookstores.
