In [[established::1998]] [[DJ Markoman]] started the drum and bass scene in his hometown Maribor, by organising events called Illegal Life at [[Pekarna Cultural Centre]]. Others slowly joined him, forming a group of DJs, MCs and producers of drum and bass music, especially jungle and hardstep dnb. Today [[IllegalKru]] consists of several jungle drum and bass DJs and producers [[Markoman]], [[Smooth]], [[Tsunami]], [[Hose]], [[Hedon]], [[Spade]] and [[Telekinesis]], which is a collaboration between [[DJ Markoman|Markoman]] and [[Smooth]].}}

IllegalKru organises regular drum and bass events, such as Digital Dungeon in [[Klub K4]] and an annual open-air event in the summer at Ročinj, called Brejkpiknik. It has brought a number of big-name DJs to Slovenia to play alongside the Kru's own skilled DJs and MCs. They also perform abroad.
