The [[Institute of Civilisation and Culture (ICK)]] was founded in [[established::1997]] as an independent institute supporting research, educational, publishing, and consulting activities in a range of areas spanning human rights, ecology, and EU integration as well as media, cultural, education and scientific policies.

The institute is organised into four departments: the Department for the Media and the Public; the Department of Identity and Culture; the Department of Safety and Freedom; and the Department for Ecology and Environment. The institute's project Slavic@ aims to facilitate a dialogue between individuals interested in Slavic ethnic and cultural heritage and consolidate them into a Pan-Slavic network. The institute's section ICK films produce and promote documentary content that steps forth into new and critical territories.

==Areas of research==
Researchers at the institute pursue the larger issues of civilisation and culture as well as investigate the social, civil, urban, and cultural facets of human existence (historical demographics; social stratification; migration/transitional demographics; linguistic differences; national education and science policies and their role in world development; the social impact of new technologies). The institute publishes research monographs and special collections of papers.
