Kabinet01 is a dynamically-organized and highly-motivated group of designers lead by founder and creative director Jan Jagodič. The studio has proved itself through a series of demanding projects, from designing company images, promotional material, and press material to designing products and spaces.

About

Established by Jan Jagodič in 2003, the studio Kabinet 01 provides complete design solutions. It frequently uses its expertise in product development, marketing, advertising, and sales acceleration. An engineering approach and a playful imagination are key characteristics of this studio, which regularly works with numerous domestic and international clients.

Their work ranges from designing company images, promotional material, and press material, to designing products and spaces. An engineering approach and a playful imagination are the key characteristics of the studio, which regularly works with numerous domestic and international clients. Among the most acknowledged are the companies Alpina, Arcadia, Gorenje, Siol, Telekom, Radio-Television Slovenia (RTV Slovenia), the Glej Theatre, and the fashion studios Oktober and Lara Bohinc 107. Kabinet 01 is a receiver of numerous awards, among them also the eminent Red Dot Design Award.

Selected work

In 2009 the Kabinet 01 made a redesign of the Oktober fashion studio brand identity, web site, and other visual applications to best suit the new made–to–measure line Oktober Sartoriale. The previous work for Oktober resulted in many awards. In 2009 the new identity of the Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning of Slovenia (ZAPS) was also conceived.

One of the major contributions of the studio is a range of design for the Slovenian footwear producer Alpina. Product graphics for a series of racing shoes was awarded the Red Dot Design Award in 2008. In 2009 the studio created the product graphic and styling for an entire winter collection of Alpine and cross-country ski boots. In addition they also designed a product catalogue, and a stand at the world's biggest sports fair, Munich's ISPO.

Publication design includes the 9+1 book of interiors designed by architect Primož Jeza; a series of product catalogues for Lara Bohinc jewellery; Lightwear, a catalogue accompanying the exhibition of the Arcadia lighting objects that took place at the Stara Elektrarna - Old Power Station in 2006; and the design of the lifestyle magazine Flash.

In 2018, the studio was chosen to rebrand Hemptouch, which is a young and independent CBD oil and skin care brand, specialised in making all-natural hemp-based cosmetics. Kabinet01's goal was to design an identity and accompanying packaging that communicates the organic nature of the products yet observes a precise, clinically-tested standards – one that goes (well) beyond the usual hemp-related aesthetic that often seeks to appear alternative, esoteric and largely decorative.

In 2019, the studio was responsible for logo, identity/exhibition catalogue/exhibition design & co-realisation for We're Open!, which is an initiative of Centre for Creativity dedicated to showcasing an assemblage of some of the best designs coming out of Slovenia. The exhibition – first shown at Milan Design Week 2019 – and accompanying catalogues draw inspiration from the language and culture of sales and marketing, advertising, consumerism, shops and shopping, co-working and collaboration. Kabinet01 employed visuals intended to highlight and often exaggerate a design’s particular qualities and character; here we’re less interested in faithful representation (obviously) than we are in the interpretive, the positive and the fanciful.

Awards

As a result of the combined efforts of the design studio Kabinet 01, the industrial designer Jure Miklavc, and the head of the development of Nordic ski boots Robert Križnar, Alpina Nordic racing boots received the distinguished Red Dot Design Award in 2008. Product graphics and styling for the Ct Alpina line won the BIO Gold Medal in 2003.

In 2004 a design for the Oktober Studio won a Silver medal at the Slovene Advertising Festival (SOF), and was rated among finalists at the Golden Drum Advertising Festival. The website for the studio received a silver medal Netko, bestowed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (GZS) for the best web design. Both a Silver medal and a Gold medal were granted to Kabinet 01 at the Slovene Advertising Festival (SOF) in 2007 for a business gift of the Gorenje Pininfarina company.

The studio received the International Red Dot Award in the packaging design category in 2017. The award-winning work, a tasting package for Flaviar, was designed by Jan Jagodič. Also in 2017, the studio received Brumen Recognition Award for Ledina Grammar School re-brand (identity, logo, book design).
