MISC Infopeka was established in 1999 at Pekarna Cultural Centre. It collects, edits and distributes current, accurate and useful information on daily basis and free of charge. The information covers the following areas: formal and non-formal education, scholarships, employment and apartment search, free time activities, culture, counselling, health, spirituality, youth mobility and tourism, voluntary work, sports and recreation, social, health and legal advice. The informationa are distributed to young people aged 15-29 and other members of the community (parents, teachers, youth workers, etc).

MISC Infopeka's work is aligned with the standards of the European Youth Information and Counselling Agency (ERYICA). In June 2007 it became the regional partner of the Eurodesk network, a European information platform for young people.

Activities

MISC Infopeka offers a reading room with numerous Slovene magazines, newspapers or comic books and free access to the Internet. It provides support for young people with ideas or projects and help with development of young creative potential. Creative or educational workshops are organised annually. In addition, MISC Infopeka provides counselling for youngsters with learning or behavioural difficulties, and girls (as well as their parents and friends) suffering from eating disorders. This is led by its experienced and qualified co-workers and is free of charge, with anonymity and privacy guaranteed.

Another area of MISC Infopeka activities is organised voluntary work (the European Volunteer Service programme), with 20-30 young volunteers working in the framework of the Pekarna Magdalena Network every year. MISC Infopeka is also the co-ordinator of the MB MINA Maribor network of youth info-points, which was established in 1999.

Aunt Rose's Library (Knjižnica tete Rose) is a joint project of MISC Infopeka, Pekarna magdalenske mreže and Zofia's Lovers-Society for the Development of the Humanities. The library offers socially-engaged and radical literature, which the reader with aspirations for revolutionary engagement finds difficult or even impossible to find in other libraries in Maribor.
