Maechtig-Vrhunc Arhitekti

Since founding Maechtig-Vrhunc Arhitekti studio in 1995, partners Tomaž Maechtig and Urša Vrhunc highlight experimentation and sustainability in their approach to architecture and design projects. The studio is active in urban planning, architecture and design.

Noteworthy building projects include the Celje Chalet, the Riko prefabricated wood panel single-family building in Palm Springs, the Edelweiss Houses in Stožice, the EuroCity complex in Šiška, and the Mostec Apartments (the last three all located in Ljubljana). The studio's interior design projects include the Gigodesign office studio, located in an abandoned industrial loft in Ljubljana, and the interior of their own MVA office space, which won the Interior of the Year Award in 2004. The studio also designed the OblikaObleka fashion exhibition organised by OLoOP Design and movable information booths for Telekom Slovenije.

Background

After graduating from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana, Tomaž Maechtig continued his studies at the Gnomon School for Visual Effects and Computation in Hollywood, California. Urša Vrhunc received her Master's degree in Architecture and Urban Design from UCLA, in Los Angeles, California.
