This [[Memorial Room of General Rudolf Maister-Vojanov, Voličina|memorial room]] in Voličina is dedicated to soldier and poet General [[Rudolf Maister-Vojanov]] (1874&ndash;1934), who towards the end of World War I organised local volunteers and seized control of the city of Maribor and the surrounding region of Lower Styria, thus securing it for the newly-formed Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes.

In 1963 a 25 metre-high wooden tower was erected at Voličina in memory of General Maister-Vojanov. Then in 1981 the wooden tower was replaced by a new 17 metre-high metal panoramic tower. This tower was followed in [[established::1985]] by the refurbishment of the nearby Štupič Villa, in which General Maister-Vojanov used to spend his holidays. Restored and furnished in period style, it contains a thematic exhibition entitled ''General Maister-Vojanov &ndash; Soldier, Politician, Poet''. The exhibition was renovated in 1999.
