[[Novo mesto Student Association]], established in [[established::1992]], engages in cultural, educational, social, sporting and tourism activities, contributing to the development of social, youth, student and cultural policy in the area. 

Novo mesto Student Association runs three non-profit and non-governmental organisations which make up its so-called DNA Group - [[LokalPatriot Institute|LokalPatriot]], [[Goga Publishing House]] and Situla Cultural Institute (which runs the student hostel and engages in various tourism activities). It collaborates with other cultural and student organisations, NGOs and other public sector agencies.

From 2002 up to 2004 the Novo mesto Student Association produced the the Novo mesto International Short Film Festival (SNIFF). The third edition of the festival directed by [[Simon Bizjak]] got the grant of the EU MEDIA Programme. The competition programme included the section ''Fronta'' featuring student films from European film academies, the section ''Fanatik'' presenting amateur short film production and the section ''Filter'' showing the best-off selection of the French film festival in Clermont Ferrand. The part ''Fokus'' showed the selected national short film production and the ''Digital'' the computer animation films. ''Retro'' probed the short film history and creation. Several film workshops and lectures took place, too.
