OloOp design team is working and researching in the field of product design, space design, urban installation, concept design and social actions. The studio has its own small production of objects and also creates ideas and products for other customers.

About

oLoOP studio gathers three textile designers and artists – Katja Burger, Tjaša Bavcon, and Jasmina Ferček – who have acquired their knowledge and experience with education at home and abroad, and have been active under this name since 2003.

They have successfully designed various small objects, including hand-made felted soap for the body, 'flying slippers' made of natural felt, and fruit bowls made of plastic, as well as bigger toys such as the oLoOP Squareplay Playground for Children and Parents, which won the Red Dot Award for design concept in 2007.

Also in 2007, the group set up the Sloavenue exhibition pavilion at the Zagreb Fair and organised a workshop of hand-made felted T-shirts.

Work

OloOp teams works in many different fields of visual arts – product design, spatial design, textile art, etc. They conduct educational activities (lectures, workshops) and have connected design with socially engaged projects.

Oloop group participates in the most important Slovenian design exhibitions at home and abroad, and they have gained international recognition and a number of prestigious awards, such as the Red Dot Award.

The following products – Woolen soap, Flying slippers, and Squareplay – are part of the permanent exhibition at the Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana. Among projects of note this year is the Revealed Hands project, where design and textile handicraft intertwine with the socialization of a vulnerable group of women.

Since 2010, the team has been researching and developing projects, activities and products under a common theme – Super Hands. By doing this they are raising awareness on the importance of handicraft and its effects on the well being of individuals and communities.

Creative community Dobrova–Polhov Gradec

The team decided to help revitalize local creative community in Dobrova–Polhov Gradec (two small towns near Ljubljana). They organized creative meetings for local artists and artisans.

Local creative people who participated in the project are designers, illustrators, herbalists, bread bakers, dairy and soap makers or they are doing embroidery, paper flowers, woven and wooden products. The meetings were held in Polhograjski Castle. The team used used the basic principles of Participatory leadership and Art of Hosting based on respect and inclusion of all participants. Through the experience everyone learned that participation, collaboration and connection in the group makes people stronger as a group and more powerful as individuals.
