Primorske novice was established when two newspapers Primorske novice and Slovenski Jadran (1953) were unified. Today Primorske novice is an daily newspaper with an emphasis on the news from Primorska region. Since 2000 there have been two versions of Primorske novice: one covers the Koper (coastal) region, and the other the Nova Gorica (North Primorje) region. The publisher is Primorske novice ČZD d.o.o. Koper, with editorial offices in Koper and in Nova Gorica.

According to the National Research on Readership, in 2013 Primorske novice was read daily by 47,000 people, giving it a 2.7 per cent daily reach. Primorske novice has correspondent offices in Ajdovščina, Ilirska Bistrica, Idrija, Sežana, Tolmin, Postojna and Ljubljana. Cultural and regional events are given extensive coverage.
