The [[Puppetry Artists Institution of Slovenia]] was established in [[established::2001]] by a group of puppetry organisations ([[Ljubljana Puppet Theatre]], [[Jože Pengov Puppet Theatre]] and the [[Association of Puppeteers]]). ULU (Ustanova lutkovnih ustvarjalcev) stimulates the development of puppetry in Slovenia through presentations and educational activities and fosters international cooperation. In 2001 it launched the [[Slovene Puppetry Biennial]].

== Members ==

The current membership of the Puppetry Artists Institution of Slovenia comprises over 20 puppetry creators, that is, puppetry ensembles, puppet theatres puppetry groups or individuals: the [[Ljubljana Puppet Theatre]] and [[Maribor Puppet Theatre]], [[Fru Fru Puppet Theatre]], [[The House of Children and Arts]], [[Konj Puppet Theatre]], [[Puppet Theatre Zajec]], [[Zapik Theatre]], the [[Association of Puppeteers]] ([[Labirint Theatre]], [[Lalanit Theatre]], [[Miss Bazilika Narrative Theatre]], [[Uš Puppet Theatre Company]], [[Življenje na nitki Theatre]]), [[The Right-Hand Pocket Theatre]] (all located in Ljubljana), then [[KUD Theatre for All]] (Koroška Bela), [[Puppets Across the Street]] (Kranj), [[Kranj Puppet Theatre]], [[Puppet Theatre Three]] (Kranj), [[Corn Seed Association, K Zrnovič Puppet Theatre]] (Slovenska Bistrica), [[Nebo Puppet Theatre]] (Kranj), [[Pupilla Puppet Theatre]] (Lendava), [[International Center for Puppetry Arts Koper|Lutkarnica]] (Koper), [[Teatro Matita]], [[Papelito Puppet Theatre]] (Ankaran), and Christian Cultural Union / Christlicher Kulturverband (Celovec). Also some individuals are actively involved in the ULU: a puppeteer [[Cveto Sever]] (Selca) and a puppetry theoretician [[Amelija Kraigher]].


==Theatre education in schools==

The Puppetry Artists Institution of Slovenia (ULU) also engages in the national education programme. It has established a catalogue of high quality theatre and puppet performances for different age groups with a special emphasis on interactivity. The main goal is to introduce performing arts to youngsters and to actively involve them in the creative process.
