Established in [[established::1983]] the Ljubljana-based [[Society for Theoretical Psychoanalysis, Ljubljana|Society for Theoretical Psychoanalysis]] is known for its tongue-in-cheek slogan "With us you don't have to enjoy". The society's objective is to work on the conceptual development of psychoanalytical theory in relation to philosophy and to publish original texts as well as translation in this area. Its engagement in contemporary critical theory, ethics, structuralism, and philosophy is closely related to the Slovene Lacanian School. One of the texts which has been translated into English and German includes ''Everything you Always Wanted to Know about Lacan'' (edited by [[Slavoj Žižek]] and published in 1994 by Verso, London). In 1985 the same group also established the so-called [[Autumn Film School, International Colloquium of Film Theory|"Ljubljana Film School"]].

==Publishing==
The society has published the psychoanalytical and cultural studies journal [[Problemi Journal|''Problemi'']] since 1962. In 1985 it launched the ''Analecta'' book series which now comprises more than 60 publications. These are translations of theories (Spinoza, Hume, Hegel, Kant, Derrida, Lyotard, Badiou, Lacan, Foucault, Freud, etc.) with thorough commentaries as well as texts by the leading Slovene theoreticians in the field. Most of its publications are available via the online bookshop on the society's website.

==International cooperation==
The members of the Society for Theoretical Psychoanalysis established [[Agalma Institute]], which organises lectures by the society members and guests. Since 2005 Agalma has hosted lectures by Giorgio Agamben, Aaron Schuster, Gérard Wajcman, [[Mladen Dolar]], [[Alenka Zupančič]] and [[Slavoj Žižek]]. Members of the society are regular guests of eminent universities in Europe (Jan van Eyck Academie, Maastricht) and America, several of their books have been translated into foreign languages.
