The Festival of Independent Film and Video was established in 1996 by Borko Radešček and the Cineast Cultural and Artistic Association. For the next 10 years it took place in Ljubljana and it brought attention to the Slovene amateur film production. Its last edition took place in 2004.

Today the Festival of Independent Film is run in Domžale, also with the support of the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia. It is organised by Cultural Associations CUT! and MILF.
