Bookshop-café Maks was founded in 2024 by ZRC SAZU. It is the first academic bookshop in Nova Gorica, offering a specialised selection of humanities and social science literature, including philosophy, sociology, history, archeology, anthropology, art studies, ecology, political science, economy, gender studies, and more. In addition, the bookshop features high-quality fiction in Slovene, English, Italian, Croatian and several other languages. The bookshop also functions as a café and is a convenient space for meetings or events, particularly book presentations, occasional storytelling sessions, and concerts.
