Programme
The gallery's programme has continuously evolved alongside the development of the NLB Art Collection, officially established in 1999. Today, as part of the MUZA, MUZA TR2 Gallery contributes to the museum's mission of researching, preserving and presenting the collection through exhibitions, public programmes and collaborations.
Throughout its history, the gallery has regularly presented works from the NLB Art Collection, originally curated by Stane Bernik, exploring its diverse holdings in painting, sculpture, graphic art and design. In preparing these exhibitions, the gallery has collaborated with numerous Slovenian cultural institutions, particularly the International Centre of Graphic Arts and the National Museum of Contemporary History of Slovenia.
Alongside exhibitions from the collection, the gallery has maintained a strong programme dedicated to visual communications, graphic design, illustration and photography. Between 2000 and 2014, this programme was organised in collaboration with the Emzin Institute of Creative Production. During this period, the gallery presented exhibitions by internationally renowned designers, illustrators and photographers, including Luc(as) de Groot, Philippe Apeloig, Seymour Chwast, Paula Scher, April Greiman, Niklaus Troxler, Leonardo Sonnoli, and many others. It also established long-term partnerships with organisations such as the Ljubljana Jazz Festival, while international collaborations brought exhibitions from the USA, France, the Netherlands, Poland and Italy.
In recent years, the programme has increasingly focused on creating a dialogue between the NLB Art Collection and contemporary artistic production. A dedicated exhibition highlighted Edvard Ravnikar, the architect of NLB's headquarters, showcasing his architectural legacy and the significance of the building that houses the gallery. Alongside this, MUZA TR2 Gallery presents solo and group exhibitions by contemporary artists working across a variety of media. Recent exhibitions have featured artists including Primož Lukežič, Ulla Žibert and Ivana Bajec, while the gallery has also collaborated with the Academy of Fine Arts and Design of the University of Ljubljana (ALUO), presenting student exhibitions and supporting emerging artistic practices.
