The Maruša Krese Award (formerly the Novo mesto award) was founded in 2017 by Goga Publishing House and is bestowed annually upon the author of the best Slovenian short story collection. Each year, a jury of literary professionals selects four nominated works. The winner is traditionally announced at an award ceremony accompanied by a discussion with all the nominees that explores the central themes of their collections. Past recipients of the award include many renowned Slovenian authors, such as Ana Svetel, Suzana Tratnik, Ajda Bračič, and Vesna Lemaić.
