Rakičan Mansion Research and Education Centre was founded in 2003 and reorganised as a public institute in 2011. The Living Castles project that aims at the development of sustainable tourism for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage, is being implemented as a part of the INTERREG V-A Slovenia–Croatia programme.
The Rakičan Mansion Centre is a partner in the Creative Europe project starting in 2019 under the title MUS.NET. MUSeum NETwork, in cooperation with partners from Italy, Spain and Poland.
