Muzej Lah is a new private museum of contemporary art, opening in the summer of 2026. The collectors Mojca and Igor Lah, the owner of the Central Eastern Europe Real Estate Fund (CEEREF), have collected one of the largest private collections in Slovenia. The newly built museum complex was designed by David Chipperfield. The museum is located in the town of Bled close to the Bled Castle and managed by the Fundacija Lah, based in Switzerland.

Collection

The Lahs collaborated among others with Jill Silvermann, the director of Thaddaeus Ropac Gallery in Paris. Over three decades they have formed one of the most ambitious private collections in Slovenia featuring international and Slovenian artists from the 20th and 21st centuries such as Anselm Kiefer, Joseph Beuys, Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, William Kentridge, Zoran Mušič, Neue Slowenische Kunst, Anne Imhof, Robert Mapplethorpe, Theaster Gates, Duba Sambolec and Hito Steyerl.

Background

At first some works from the collection were presented in the TR3 private gallery (from 2007 on) in Ljubljana in one of the twin skyscrapers on the Trg republike square, designed by Edvard Ravnikar in the 1970s. The TR3 Gallery was not a sales gallery but rather a precursor to a museum of contemporary art. Temporary exhibitions presented mostly works by renowned international artists, usually ones already included in the collection.
