Slovene Animated Film Association
Mission
DSAF actively participates in outlining the national film production policy that should take into consideration the development of animated film. This young platform encourages the exchange of experiences and cooperation among authors and filmmakers. It organises events that bring the process of creation and production of animated films closer to audiences, namely, the CEE Animation Forum and CEE Animation Workshop.
The association aims to relaunch the Slovene national animated film festival, presenting a variety of Slovene animated film productions to both the general public and international experts.
International cooperation
DSAF regularly and very successfully participated in projects funded by the Creative Europe programme 2014–2020. In fact, their total amount of grants awarded by the EU as project leaders put them in first place among Slovenian media organisations.
The two most internationally important endeavours of the association have thus become the CEE Animation Workshop and the CEE Animation Forum, with partners from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. Usually held annually in the Czech Republic alongside the Anifim International Animated Film Festival, the CEE Animation Forum has become the leading regional pitching, financing and co-production event focusing on the animation industry and brings together industry experts from 20 countries in Central and Eastern Europe.
Developing the field
In an effort to encourage development among artists in the field, the DSAF also bestows annual awards to professionals and students. Winners are announced on its website, and the winning animated films are screened in a special event.
DSAF residency programme
The DSAF Residency launched by the DSAF in 2024 is an international program that supports animated film creators at various stages of their careers. It offers 2-week to 1-month research/pre-production residencies for DSAF members in Angoulême (France) and for international artists in Nova Gorica, Ljubljana and Maribor (Slovenia).
