Established in 1992, Slovene Philanthropy is a leading association dedicated to promoting and developing volunteering in Slovenia. As coordinator of the Slovenian Volunteering Organisations Network, it plays a central role in strengthening a vibrant culture of solidarity and civic engagement. The association organises the annual National Volunteering Week, as well as two nationwide initiatives celebrating generosity and active citizenship: Happy Day of Volunteering and Make a Difference Day.
Another key area of its work is contemporary migration. Through the annual Migrant Film Festival, Slovene Philanthropy provides a space for dialogue, reflection, and greater understanding of migration issues.
The organisation also promotes intergenerational cooperation and has established six intergenerational community centres across Slovenia. In partnership with the Municipality of Ljubljana and other charitable organisations, it co-founded a pro bono clinic offering counselling services to people without basic health insurance.
