The [[Union of Cultural Societies of Slovenia (ZKDS)|Union of Cultural Societies of Slovenia]] is a non-governmental, nationwide union comprising 70 local branches located in different Slovene towns. The network of branches brings together hundreds of local cultural associations (NGO). It was established in [[established::2002]] and inherited the long networking traditions of local cultural associations and groups (former Union of Cultural Organisations, ZKO). The union seeks to stimulate the quality of cultural activities of a broad variety of genres and trends and to promote them both at home and abroad. The union also seeks to develop cultural diversity and stimulate co-operation involving minority cultures.

The union tackles common issues such as the collective management of copyrights or combating the weakening of the associations established in the socialist times. To strengthen its voice it is also a member of the [[Association of Associations of Slovenia]] established in 2003. Since March 2017 it publishes the Primus online magazine that covers the vivid activities of Union's members.
