Background
The Sunflower Gallery received its name from the children's book collection Sunflower (Sončnica) which the Mladinska knjiga Publishing House has been publishing for years. It operates under the logo of the happy sun created by the popular Slovene illustrator of children's books Lilijana Praprotnik Zupančič alias Lila Prap.
Programme
The Sunflower Gallery regularly prepares mostly solo exhibitions in monthly intervals. As a rule, it features recent illustrations and in this way also promotes newly published books.
Since its establishing, the gallery has given the podium to almost all of Slovenia's prominent and promising illustrators, such as Jelka Reichman, Božo Kos, Marjan Manček, Zvonko Čoh, Maša Kozjek, Suzi Bricelj, Lila Prap and many many others.
Occasionally, the gallery has also featured the results of different competitions prepared by magazines of the Mladinska knjiga Publishing House, either photo or drawing competitions.
Exhibition space
The exhibition space is 45m² (15m W x 3m D x 2.9m H) large, incorporating 16-linear-metres of wall space.
