The [[Vladimir Lovec-Ivan Šček Chamber Orchestra Competition]] has been running since [[established::2003]]. The competition for chamber groups of young musicians (duos, trios, quartets and quintets) is run in two categories: the first is for groups of average age 19, while the second category comprises groups of average age 30. The best groups are conferred golden, silver and bronze medals and are offered concert performances and recordings. Numerous new works by Slovene composers are presented at the competition.

The national Primož Ramovš Competition for Chamber Music Groups for groups of young musicians (duos, trios, quartets and quintets) has been running since 2001, at the time under the name Vladimir Lovec-Ivan Šček Chamber Orchestra Competition. The competitions basic idea is to inspire young ensembles for rich and high-quality national chamber music literature and on the other hand the creation of new works for the less conventional music groups.

The first two competitions (2001 and 2004) were organized within the annual summer academy of chamber music Musical July on the Coast which was maintained by Koper Music School. In 2007 the competition changed its location to Ljubljana Vič-Rudnik Music School and its name to Primož Ramovš Competition for Chamber Music Groups.
