The sextet of clarinets is a unique ensemble in Slovenia as it comprises Slovenia’s third generation of musicians, who play a wide range of wind instruments including the standard orchestral B flat and A clarinets, alto clarinet, basset horn, the smaller E flat clarinet and the largest bass and contrabass clarinets. The group is currently led by the clarinettist of the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, professor at the Academy of Music and member of the Ariart Woodwind Quintet Jože Kotar. All of the Sextet's musicians combine performing and teaching careers and collaborate with many Slovene orchestras such as the Slovene Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Slovene Clarinet Sextet mostly presents a contemporary music repertoire though it also plays arrangements of classical music pieces. It has performed and recorded in Slovenia, Italy, Serbia and Montenegro. Their repertoire includes works by
