STVAR architects was set-up in Ljubljana in 2005 on the occasion of a successful public competition for the Central Library Celje building. The studio is led by arhitects Aleš Vodopivec and Marko Smrekar, and comprise a team of architects, engineers and flexible external specialists. The team engages in a complete process of building engineering, from demanding public buildings to the detail of interior design for private clients.
Among recent realizations one should mention a reconstruction of a swimming resort in the Municipality of Radovljica (a work-in-progress), and a collaboration in a construction of the new Nordic Centre Planica in Tamar valley in north-western Slovenia. While the STVAR architects conceived the service and performance builidings and a pavilion, the A.biro designed the ski jumps and bridges and the Studio AKKA the landscape architecture, including the lay-out of infrastructure and cross country lanes. For their work, they received the TREND Award 2015 for outstanding achievements in visual creativity.
