Noctiferia is a premier death/industrial metal band in Slovenia. The pioneers and representatives of extreme metal started in Ljubljana in 1994.
Brief history and releases
The band and above all its founding members, Igor Nardin (guitars) and Uroš Lipovec (bass), started recording demos and soon they recorded their debut 'black pagan metal' album in 1997 – Baptism At Savica Fall. They were promoting it at many shows that established the group as the foremost East European extreme/metal act.
In 2001 Noctiferia recorded their second album Per Aspera, which indicated reorientation to more extreme/death metal. In 2002 the group toured Spain and Italy with Malevolent Creation, Kataklysm and Catastrophic.
Their third album Slovenska Morbida (Slovene Morbidness, 2006) was again different from the previous one - including various cultural influences from female vocals, unknown sounds for metal and strange national instruments. The band flew to Sweden to The Abyss studio and started mixing the album with Peter Tägtgren. The album received some good reviews in international metal sub-world. It was promoted with several tours - including two UK tours with Hypocrisy and a couple of shows with Cradle of Filth and Pain. In that time Noctiferia appeared twice at the Metalcamp main stage in domestic Tolmin.
Their fourth album Death Culture was published by Listenable Records in Spring 2010. Death Culture is a result of cooperation between Noctiferia and well-known metal producers Peter Taggren and Jonas Kjellgren.
In May 2010 Noctiferia started their short European 'Death Culture Tour', sharing the stage with the legends of black metal - Mayhem and Venom.
Current line-up of the band: Gianni Poposki (vocal, percussion), Igor Nardin (guitars, programming, keys), Uroš Lipovec (bass), Mathias Gergeta (drums, percussion), Roman Files (guitar).
