The Union of Slovene Folklore Groups is a voluntary, independent and non-profit union of registered associations, folklore groups and festivals which have come together to co-operate with folklore festival organisers both in Slovenia and abroad in the presentation of Slovene folkloric customs, music and dance. It offers assistance to members regarding event organisation and participation in festivals, circulates information about international events, connects different cultural organisations, and organises meetings and symposia at home and abroad in order to advance its professional work. The Union has an annual meeting and a board of professionals evaluates groups and offers professional assistance to them.

The Union of Slovene Folklore Groups is a member of the International Council for Organisations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Art (CIOFF).
