The 303 square-metre Small Gallery is located in one of the corridors of the Cankarjev dom Culture and Congress Centre and presents an important space of reference for photographic artists. The exhibition programme encompasses primarily the work of Slovene photographers, from the most eminent to the youngest. The Emzin Magazine Photography Competition exhibition also takes place here and in the Foyer.

Although focused on Slovene authors, the space stages occasionally also the work of foreign photographers as in January 2010 when the exhibition of the key figure of Croatian photography Petar Dabac was featured. Organised in association with the Lang Gallery from Samobor (Croatia) and curated by Želimir Koščević the presentation showed several series of Dabac including Letters to Maja and You Have Whitewashed in Vain.

Since few years the Small Gallery cooperates with the Photon Gallery and its project Photonic Luminatic, New Slovenian Photography and Video presenting the latest trends in Slovenian photography and a video. This annual selection of artists from the younger and middle generations is part of the project the Month of Photography Festival. Recently the group exhibition featured also works of Tomo Brejc, Bojan Salaj, Borut Peterlin, Dejan Habicht, and many others.
