During the 9th Festival of 2006, director Peter Zobec received the Badjura Award, while Short Circuits by Janez Lapajne took all of the major Vesna Awards, including best feature film, best director, best script (Janez Lapajne), best leading actress (Tjaša Železnik), best supporting male actors (Sebastijan Cavazza and Boris Cavazza), best editing, best sound and best film music. The traditional Actor of the Year Award, conferred by the weekly Stop magazine, went to Jernej Šugman for his role as Lenart in Short Circuits. The remaining Vesna Awards went to Tjaša Ferme for My Small Lovers (best supporting actress), while Dejan Spasič won the best leading actor award for the same film.

The Festival of Slovene Film (the Festival slovenskega filma or FSF) is classified as a national film festival as it offers an annual review of domestic film and television production. It is organised by the Slovene Film Fund and it is staged annually in September or October, the length varies according to annual film production (usually for 2 – 4 days), at the Portorož Auditorium in the seaside resort of Portorož. It was established in [established::1991] as the Slovene Film Marathon but its roots are going back to 1973 when the Slovene Film Week was organised for the first time in Celje. Although the festival is intended for the yearly overview of the domestic film and television production films don't enter automatically in the programme but are still selected by the programme selector. The main festival award is the Vesna Award.
