Intended to promote children and youth theatre production, the festival consists of a competition programme, including Slovene production, and an accompanying programme, featuring international performances and round tables, and concludes with the presentation of the Little Golden Stick Awards. Initially organised by the Theatre for Children and Youth (GOML) at Španski borci venue, since 2008 it has been produced by Ljubljana Puppet Theatre since 2009.


Overview

The selection of Slovene theatre productions for children and young people in the competition programme of the festival include productions by theatres, such as Mini Theatre, Ljubljana Puppet Theatre, Koper Theatre, Ptuj City Theatre, Slovene People’s Theatre (SLG) Celje, Prešeren Theatre Kranj, the Slovene Permanent Theatre of Trieste, and ŠKUC Association.

The festival has hosted numerous international theatres, such as Showtheater Holbæk from Denmark, La Baracca Theatre - Testoni Ragazzi from Bologna, Italy, Thalias Kompagnons Theater from Nuernberg, Germany, and Mala scena Zagreb, Croatia, City Theatre for the Young GKM Split, Crotia, Teatret Lampe from Copenhagen, Denmark, Det Lille Verdens Teater from Virum, Denmark, Little Theatre Duško Radović from Belgrade, Serbia, etc.

The festival hosted also some lecturers: Hasan Erkek from Turkey, Wolfgang Schneider from Germany, Henriette Kudsk from Denmark, and Roberto Frabetti lecturing on the European project Small Size - Theatre for Children From 0 to 6 Years. The 2009 edition featured also readings by Slovene authors of children's literature, which was co-organised by Slovene Writers’ Association. The festival takes place in different locations in Ljubljana, such as Mini Theatre, Ljubljana Puppet Theatre, Šentjakob Theatre, etc.
