Mohorjeva družba (Mohor's Society) is the oldest publishing house in Slovenia, and as late as 1864 it remained the only Slovene publishing house.

Mohorjeva družba originated in 1851 as the Society for Publishing of Good Slovene Books, which was established in Celovec-Klagenfurt (nowadays in Austria) through an initiative of Bishop Anton Martin Slomšek and confirmed by Austrians in 1953. As early as 1852 the first two books were sent to 785 members of the Society, and in 1862 Mohorjeva družba organised a competition for new short stories and texts in the historical or natural sciences. After the First World War, Mohorjeva družba moved firstly to Prevalje (Slovene Carinthia) and then to Celje; editorial control was moved to Ljubljana in 1922. Thereafter Slovene books were sent to Slovene immigrants all around the world. In 1926 a branch of Mohorjeva družba was established in Italian Gorizia for Slovenes living in Italy, and in 1946 the original Celovec-Klagenfurt branch was re-established in order to publish books for Slovenes in Austria. Today all three branches - Celje, Gorizia and Celovec-Klagenfurt - remain active.
