Spectrum Festival was launched in 2001 in Ljubljana where it takes place in summer annually. Since 2005 the Spectrum Festival became a unique traveling chamber music festival, taking place in various European cities. It staged three concerts in Gasteig in Munich in 2009, the next year its programme was hosted at Carnegie Hall in New York and at the Forge in London, and in 2011 the three concerts were presented in Nordhorn, Germany.

The 2019 edition of the festival takes place at the Ljubljana City Museum.
