The Association of Slovene Literary Critics, founded in 2008, brings together more than 50 critics of various generations. Its mission is emphasizing the role of literary criticism in the promotion and evaluation of both modern and canonical literature while also calling attention to the social and economic status of Slovenian literary critics, the diminishing opportunities for literary criticism in the media etc. The society bestows two awards: the award kritiško sito (Critics’ Sieve) for the best literary work of the past year and the award kritiška ost (Critics’ Spearhead) for the best piece of literary criticism of the past year.
