The International Student Film and Video Festival Filofest was first staged in 2006 by the students of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. It is organised in cooperation with Radio-Television Slovenia (RTV Slovenia) and is normally held in November or December at the Faculty of Arts.

The festival focuses on film and video productions by students and young people the world over. The selection of films showcases a rich repertory of genres, from fictional, documentary to experimental film. The most recent edition of the festival was in 2019 as a part of the 100th anniversary of the University of Ljubljana.

The competitive section of the programme is open only to independent student film and video productions by amateur filmmakers. The selected films must be made without the help of professional production companies, schools, or academies. The non-competitive section is reserved for films made by students of film academies and schools.

The film programme is accompanied by lectures, panel discussions, video workshops, exhibitions, a guided tour of RTV, and other social events.
