A completely renovated Mining Museum Zagorje in the mine shaft Loke in Kisovec opened in 2015. It is based on the memorial exhibition from 1995 that celebrated the 240th anniversary of mining in the Zagorje Valley. The coal mine in Zagorje is the oldest in Slovenia and was closed in 1996.
The museum is managed by the municipal cultural centre and apart from the museum exhibition offers also a simulated mine pit underground and a multimedia presentation. The visit can be enhanced by using a free mobile application. The strength of this small museum lies in its authentic connection with the local community and the continuing research of its mining heritage.
