The Municipality of Kranjska Gora covers a total area of 256 square kilometres and has a population of 11,305 people (2004). It lies in the north-west region of Slovenia, at the foot of the Julian Alps.
The Municipality of Kranjska gora has fostered bilateral cultural exchanges with twin city Waasmunster in Belgium and Santa Marinella in Italy.
