Public Institute for Culture Kamnik was founded in 2019 on the basis of its predecessor Public Institute Mekinjski samostan. It encompasses three venues: House of Culture Kamnik, Monastery Mekinje and Creative Quarter Barutana. As the principal culture institute in the Kamnik municipality, it organises and produces events in the fields of education, culture, art, and tourism. Moreover, it promotes the history of the Monastery Mekinje and preserves the architectural and cultural heritage of Kamnik, frequently in the framework of EU funded projects. It manages an art residency in the monastery as well.
