Founded in 2011, RISA Institute is dedicated to advancing cognitive accessibility and social inclusion through publishing and education. Its core focus is the development and publication of books in easy language – accessible, easy-to-read formats designed to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and others with cognitive access needs. In addition to its own easy language titles, RISA publishes the bimonthly newspaper 20 minut and runs the online platform Lahko je brati. Beyond publishing, the institute provides specialised training and consultancy in easy language and cognitive accessibility. Its work emphasises meaningful user involvement, including self-advocacy and validation of easy language texts, as well as accessibility planning and community-based support services that foster social inclusion and independent living.
