The Youth Centre for Cultural Activities Maribor (MKC) was established in 1993 by the Municipality of Maribor. It is a public institution, designed to stimulate, develop, and mediate the activities of young people in the field of arts. MKC's activities include computer and new media art, literature, theatre and dance arts, visual arts, video, film and photography, music, non-profit management and production. Its most important and oldest projects are the No Border Jam Festival and the International Festival of Computer Arts (IFCA). MKC also participates in the Slovene Book Days and organises the Ethno Concert Cycles and the Performa Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts. MKC Maribor also runs the Media Nox Gallery where public performances – exhibitions, projections, concerts, workshops, lectures and readings take place, and the new venue Kulturni Inkubator dedicated to presenting new media projects, comics, and cartoons.
