In 2002 the Žalec Inter Municipal Central Library became a public institution, with 10 branches (Vransko, Prebold, Polzela, Braslovče, Tabor, Šempeter, Griže, Liboje, Ponikva and Petrovče). Since 1990 intensive computerisation has taken place here, and since 1995 the collection has been searchable via the [[COBISS - Slovene Virtual Library]] system. As a public library the aims of Žalec Inter Municipal Central Library are to function as an information centre and to introduce people to IT (two computers available). Future plans include expanding access to books through the introduction of of a mobile library service. The library organises occasional exhibitions. |
