The [[Academy of Fine Arts and Design]] has been established in [[established::1945]] and housed in an old building at the Erjavčeva street. It comprises four academic departments and offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Graduate study courses take four years to complete and can be taken as full-time, part-time (1-3 vacancies) or parallel studies. Each year the Academy also organises many different workshops and also runs two 45-hour preparatory courses in drawing and sculpture for Academy entry exams, plus a range of additional visual arts education programmes aimed at a wide group of interested people. The Academy enables students to study abroad through the SOCRATES/ERASMUS and CEEPUS programmes and on the basis of a bilateral contract with some of the European universities (in Vienna, Linz, Genk, Helsinki, Milano, Lisbona, Essen, etc.) and with some of the US universities (Indiana University of Pennsylvania).
