Membership and programme
Apart from critics and theatrologists, members of the association are mostly individuals with professional background of a dramaturg. At regular meetings the members deal with topics related to current issues such as badly evaluated work of critics, editors and practical dramaturgs in theatre houses. A preferential tariff of fees for certain work was composed which can serve as an orientation for the employees as well as employers.
The DGKTS tries to actively respond to situation and changes in the field of Slovene culture in general and cultural policy, either via open letters or direct proposals on the recurrent deficiencies. One of initiatives is the re-qualification of the National Theatre Museum of Slovenia into the national Theatre Institute. The association also bestows an award for the best performance of the theatre season.
Round tables and symposia
Presenting round tables and symposia, the DGKTS tries to catalize reflection in the fields which have not been dealt with in Slovenia before and to contribute to the recognition of theoretical and critical theatre discourse. The international symposium Art, Culture, City (2009) and the international conference on Intercriticism (2010) both happened in the frame of the Maribor Theatre Festival. Contributions were published in the humanistic journal Dialogi Magazine. Since 2011 the association prepares regular open forums; the first one dealt with the issue of small stages, the next one raised the theme of artistic leadership in Slovene theatres.
